    • Joeland7 – The common belief among professing believers that true prosperity is all about having a lot of money is a myth, and a lie from the devil. From personal testimony I know that that is not the case. The truth is that God wants us to prosper in every area of our lives (mentally, physically, and spiritually)-3 John 2, and that includes our finances. The Source of that prosperity is God Himself, for “God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]” (2 Corinthians 9:8). So having a million dollars may not necessarily make any of us prosperous from a biblical perspective.

As for the disciples, the Bible did not specifically say that they were wealthy, but from Scriptures we know that they lacked nothing. In response to Peter’s insistent questioning in Mark 10:17-30, Jesus promised that if you turn away from material possessions to put Jesus totally first in your life, God will return material possessions to you “a hundredfold now in this time… with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life”. And God is faithful to perform His Word!

Likewise, Scriptures tell us that in the early church “neither was there any among them that lacked” (Acts 4:34).

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!
